Wendy,
Looking back at what I wrote I can see where it could be misunderstood.
To me a program is any group of code that starts and stops and performs
some action. A procedure is a piece of code that is callable from
another piece of code. Actually that is more correctly called a
subroutine or function. So actually the MW plugin allows us to write
programs or procedures but we can't truly write functions.
Ah jargon isn't it wonderful!
You're ideas of using newtext and all could work it would be a bit
kludgey and not true function calling but it might work. Also don't
forget turtle variables, don't know if they can be created on the fly in
the plugin, anyone know?
By the way where'd everyone go? There was a flush of messages when the
group first started then I posted and then nothing, did I scare everyone
away :-)
One other thing just slightly related to the cybercourse. I ran across
some software by a company called 'MindJet' the URL is
http://www.mindmanager.com/ The software allows what they call mindmaps
(flowcharts and concept maps really) to be created very easily. They
have three versions two high end products, around $180.00 US or so and
an educational version for around $30.00, You can download trial
versions of the highness programs. I did last night and I sat there
playing with it for a long time. Even the kids got into it. It's
worthwhile checking out in my opinion. Usual disclaimer: I have no
financial stake in the company.
regards

To save an attachment to your computer, PC users should right-click (Mac users, click and hold the mouse button) on the link and then choose 'save target as' from the pop-up menu. A window will then pop up in which you can choose a location for the file.
