I am all for not being redundant (to save everyone's time). There are a lot
of Logo projects out in cyberspace and hyperlinking at appropriate places
would be logical. In the same way, the cybercourse should mention where to
find items even if they are incorporated in the MW help. It is up to the
student to then follow the reference link.

Actually, the MW Pro Help does show this in two places (briefly and in
detail):

1) (briefly) Help --> MW Pro Fundamentals --> An Overview of MW Pro -->
The
Toolbar
(where it says, "click on an icon for help,") --> click on button/slider
icon
and you'll see: "creates a [button/slider]. When you click on the page,
the
[button/slider]'s dialog box opens."

2) (in detail) Help --> MW Pro Fundamentals --> More about MW Objects -->
Creating a button / Creating a slider
Choosing one of these links brings up a full page of info about how to use
the features of the dialog box, etc.

But on the other hand, there is one bit of information which I have never
been able to locate in the MW Pro Help. I only knew this was possible
when
Gary Stager demonstrated it at the 1999 Logosium: You can click and drag
the
boundary between the right edge of the project area and the tabs, and you
can
click and drag the boundary between the bottom edge of the project area
and
the command center. This is helpful for oversize projects. Also,
although
"newprojectsize" is one of the primitives, explained in the vocabulary
section, I think they should explain in the overview information that you
can
resize your project before you get started. If they explain that, I've
not
yet located the info.

So the least we can do in the cybercourse is provide some basic
information
like that! But we shouldn't be redundant... no point in covering what the
Help area does well, I suppose.

I think it would be useful also to include a substantial list of FAQ...
and
then if we add a search function to the cybercourse, people who type a
question into the search box will (we hope) be directed straight to the
information they are seeking. THAT would have been nice in the MW Pro
Help.

(We could also write to LCSI to suggest some improvements to their Help
for
any future version of MW Pro.)

I hope others will weigh in with what they might find lacking in the help
menus so that we can be sure to cover that information well in the
cybercourse.
