I'm new to this list (having just signed off from Logoforum). I have
read the archives to understand Wendy's mission and feel that this is
the place for me to reach other MW users. (Thank you, Wendy!) I hope
that I don't annoy anyone by posting the same request I had to the
Logoforum. Only Wendy responded, and though she tried mightily, she
couldn't help with my specific problem.

I have finished a unit with 2nd graders who created "funny faces" with
buttons that cause eyes to blink or mouths to both open and say or sing
some recording. These really are adorable (and very simple) and used
nothing more complicated than st, ht and launch. It's also my first
attempt to bring MW to lower grades than 4th where I've done more work.
I would like to post sample funny faces on my web page.

My problem is the configuration of WebStar (server software) on a Mac.
I have had many conversations with Shawn at lcsi, looked at WebStar
documentation, had many conversations with the server admin. My small
test file at http://www.mtlakes.org/ww/proj/t/vote/heart/heart.htm will
cause an error that says something like the data do not download
successfully.

Notably, this test file copied by Shawn to another server, worked
beautifully. So the conclusion is that the server must be configured
correctly. (FYI, other file formats on this server such as Hyperstudio
or pdf work fine. So I have tried to mimic these formats.)

If anyone could guide me from here or know anything about WebStar,
please contact me either on or offline.

I thank everyone and am looking forward to a very rich and enlightening
resource here.

  • To save an attachment to your computer, PC users should right-click (Mac users, click and hold the mouse button) on the link and then choose 'save target as' from the pop-up menu. A window will then pop up in which you can choose a location for the file.
