Headline Classrooms of the Future
Main Summary Classroom learning has changed dramatically over the years.
>From one-room schoolhouses to multi-media classrooms, our society is always
trying to find the ideal learning environment to enhance our children's
learning experiences. Learning should be fun. Kids have a natural curiosity
that should be nutured and pruned carefully to help grow a profitable
educational experience. There is much that school administration, eachers,
and parents can do to enhance the learning experience from K-graduation and
beyond. My ideal classroom would consist of ...

My ideal classroom would consist of smaller classes - no more than 15
students per teacher. I also feel that the teacher in each classroom should
have a full-time teacher's assistant and many parent volunteers. It would
have all the latest multi-media equipment including computers for each
student with screened internet access and an an extensive classroom library
that included books, magazines, videos, and computer software. The ideal
classroom, in my opinion, would consist mainly of individual work and
opportunities for children to pursue projects according to their individual
interest. Many bright students are held back in their studies waiting for
slower students to catch up and many academically challenged students are
forced to work faster than their own pace, losing much of the information
taught and/or becoming discouraged with academia. While we can dream of the
ideal situations to encourage learning and work to improve learning
conditions in our schools of the future, it's important to be involved in
our schools today, forging a path for a better tomorrow.
