Minds in Play was written by Yasmin B. Kafai about her work at an elementary
school for her master's (or maybe it was her Doctorate) from MIT. It is very
case study kind of approach of her observations of several children who were
assigned to creat games in Microworlds during the school year and how they
pursued that goal.
I did not respond to the Montessori person because I know so little about
Montessori, and only a little more about Microworlds. I am involved in
teaching some Microworlds stuff to my grand children right now and find that
even the three year old is making progress when her Mom helps her.

There are about 70 members on this list at the moment. =20

I have not heard about "Minds in Play" but I'm sure the members of this list
would like to know about it. Can anyone tell us about it and where it can be
ordered?

By the way, an earlier posting from a couple of weeks ago, asking for
suggestions on teaching MicroWorlds in a Montessori environment, received no
replies. I think most of us apparently are not Montessori teachers. But I
think that the general approaches to teaching MicroWorlds would be very
appropriate in that environment, from what I understand. I hope some list
members will share with the list how you encourage some individual approaches
to using MicroWorlds while also covering some of the basic skills.

Hello, out there!

I'm a 4th/5th grade teacher, new to this list. Does anyone know how many
people use this list presently?
=20
Has anyone read Minds In Play about creating computer games using MicroWorlds?
