Ralph I have not the time to explore these ideas, but it would be interesting to reverse the names of the two candidates for contact in the touching? [first_turtle second_turtle], and seeing whether issuing a second command, - touching?[second_turtle _first_turtle] might trigger a Microworlds response to intercept and report the event. It might also be necessary to "arm the interrupt" a second time, i.e., that once an event is reported; perhaps that Microworlds reporter needs a "refuel", needs to told to continue looking for succeeding instances of contact after an initial detection is made. Another question is about the logic which employs the touching? command. Detected within a when [ ] or Done? [ ] might cause an event to be triggered but not behave in an anticipated way. Give these explorations a whirl, and see what happens. best regards, Harvey On Wednesday, February 12, 2003, at 09:12 AM, Ralph Wege wrote: "Music is the one incorporeal entrance into the higher world of knowledge which comprehends mankind, but mankind cannot comprehend."My students are using the Touching? command in their games. Things work well if the turtle is moving into another turtle but if the other turtle collides with the stationary turtle, the collision is not detected. Is there a way to detect collisions no matter what is moving into what? Ludwig van Beethoven To save an attachment to your computer, PC users should right-click (Mac users, click and hold the mouse button) on the link and then choose 'save target as' from the pop-up menu. A window will then pop up in which you can choose a location for the file. | |||||||
