Can a turtle be instructed to show how to do a procedure required. Eg.
If I want six-year-olds to see how to paint a picture, can I instruct the
turtle to show them how to select "pointer", "paint can", select a "color"
and then "color a section"? This is preferable to typing out instructions
which
would be difficult for some children to read.

I do not think the announce box can be closed under program control. But
I'd like to suggest that if you demonstrate a way for textboxes to be
cute and fun then your students might gravitate toward them instead of
toward announce boxes. I attach a sample project called
"thought_bubble" in which, when two flying creatures bump into each
other, a random "thought" written in a random color appears briefly
inside of a thought bubble right over the creature's heads. I think
that's much more interesting than an announcement!

Subject: [MWForum]Timing the closing of an ANNOUNCE panel message??
Hi folks,
I'm wondering if it's possible to control - from within a
procedure - the closing of a message in an ANNOUNCE panel. My kids
are writing fairy-tales and when various turtles/characters touch each
other messages appear in the ANNOUNCE panels ( by using the announce
Command ). The 'problem' is that the kids want the message to appear for
only a short time and for the action to then resume - without the user
having to click on the 'OK' or the "Stop' in the announce panel. I've
suggested they use textboxes and make these 'show' and hide but some
want to use the announce message panels. Does anyone have any
ideas. Many thanks . Graham Williams Melbourne Australia

To save an attachment to your computer, PC users should right-click (Mac users, click and hold the mouse button) on the link and then choose 'save target as' from the pop-up menu. A window will then pop up in which you can choose a location for the file.
