Hi Ray,

I'm able to launch EX programs from desktop icons like this:

EX uses MWPro's Projects folder if you have both. But you can see this is a
.mwx program and it launches in EX.

In the "General" tab, the user field just says "GenCAD-AI" - which is the
desktop lcon name, not the program filename (though they can be the same).

One way around is to save to Desktop and run from there. Setting up which
program will open which files (file associations) is your personal
I have found that my MW EX project does not open directly from the file Icon
- I get the Welcome page and have to select the location of the file from that
point. Shawn, is there any set-up tweak that can fix this?

Yesterday I got a pop-up bubble advising me that a new Windows update was
ready to be installed. As always, I initiated it. I was surprised to see that
it said it was installing SP-2 (service pack 2), since that's what I already
have. It was a huge undertaking, taking over a half hour on my rural dial-up.

Now, several things are working differently. Chief among them is it will
no longer allow me to open projects that are attached to forum emails. Before,
it asked me if I wanted to select the program from a list. If that option was
selected, it produced a list of choices with MW2 highlighted.

    Now, it gives me this:

Sure enough, Control Panel has a section "Folder Options." When I open
that I'm confronted with a series of dialog boxes of which I can make no sense

Does anybody know what this is about, and how to deal with it?

  • To save an attachment to your computer, PC users should right-click (Mac users, click and hold the mouse button) on the link and then choose 'save target as' from the pop-up menu. A window will then pop up in which you can choose a location for the file.
