to fd_slow :dist
 repeat :dist / speed * k [fd speed / k]
end

but I think it complicates matters and it is easier to work
out a value for k, which suits the project in hand, by trial and error.
Choose a k which gives an acceptible min. speed.

I notice that MW EX has GLIDE which accepts fractional
values for speed.
