Does networking work in Microworlds 2.03? And if not, which software is
capable to do these things?
Thanks!

Hi KO,

About the "editable shapes" portion of your question, both MicroWorlds Pro and
EX permit you to convert anything you draw (or import) into an editable shape.
I am unsure about earlier versions.

Use the graphics "select" tool to draw a box around whatever on the graphics
screen you want to convert into a shape. With the cursor inside the selection
box, right-click and select "copy." Next, right-click on a shape location and
select "paste."

If your original graphic is large, the shape location will show a very tiny
(and often distorted) version of it. But when you give that shape to a turtle
or simply place it anywhere on the graphics screen, it will show up exactly
the original size, even if it was quite large. In MicroWorlds Pro there is
space for 128 shapes (if I recall correctly). In EX, each turtle has a
capacity of 128 shapes reserved for just that turtle!

As for the LAN question, I can't speak exactly to that question. But twice
I've had occassion to interface MicroWorlds with peripheral devices. One was
a digitizer and the other a GPS receiver. Both involved 2-way communications
with MicroWorlds. In both cases the peripherals could be set to an ASCII
mode. That is, they could both issue and understand commands and data given
in ASCII format. MicroWorlds definitely has the capability communicating with
the outside world in this way. The LAN manual should address communications
protocols the program can use, and explain how to set it to use the various
protocols it understands. Check that out, and if it appears it can operate in
ASCII mode, write back, and we'll get into how to use MicroWorlds this way.

Good Luck,
Jeff

Subject: LOGO Networking Software?

I was wondering if LCSI or other LOGO companies have LOGO software that allows
you to program events over the LAN, ie. a computer posts a message in text,
and while the other computer is on the same program, it sees the other
computer's message and can reply back. Also which LOGO software program has
more editable shapes available, or simply can change to any graphic you sketch
on a computer.
Thanks!

  • To save an attachment to your computer, PC users should right-click (Mac users, click and hold the mouse button) on the link and then choose 'save target as' from the pop-up menu. A window will then pop up in which you can choose a location for the file.
