Hi esha,

Making a board game, whether on a computer or a physical one, requires a few
steps. Your question is the correct first question.

A board game (or most any other thing a person wants to make) needs to be
first "designed". After that, it can be "built". These steps are called the
"development process". It is the process used by people who make things, like
engineers, programmers, architects, carpenters, plumbers, automobile makers -
and most anybody who makes things.

A design for a board game will have at least most of the following elements:

1. what the players' objective is (example: be the first player to move to
the place of the treasure)
2. what the board will look like (make a picture of the board, drawn with
MicroWorlds graphics tools)
3. what the playing pieces will look like (make pictures of the playing
pieces)
4. what the pieces will do (written rules for moving the pieces on the board)
5. how to keep score (written rules for scoring)

If you make a design for a board game and send it to us, we can probably help
you figure out how to build it with MicroWorlds.

It would be best if you already know most of MicroWorlds basics before you
attempt a very complicated project. But on the other hand, one very nice
feature of programming with MicroWorlds is you can make one little piece of a
project at a time. And making each little piece of the program can be an
exciting adventure all by itself.

Jeff

  • To save an attachment to your computer, PC users should right-click (Mac users, click and hold the mouse button) on the link and then choose 'save target as' from the pop-up menu. A window will then pop up in which you can choose a location for the file.
