Can I use MicroWorlds and this site in a traditional learning environment?

Yes, you can. It is possible for a whole class to study the same folder and even the same specific project at the same time, in a highly directed fashion. Sometimes a highly structured approach can be an efficient way to introduce or extend skills. MicroWorlds in Action can support the development of programming skills in a structured learning environment. The components of one specific project lesson can form the components of a whole-class lesson and practice session.

But Logo and MicroWorlds and this site were developed to support a more flexible, creative, constructivist approach to learning. Using MicroWorlds and MIA in one prescribed way for all students would be like using a Steinway grand piano solely for practicing scales. Using MicroWorlds in Action to guide students' learning in a flexible way would be like practicing and interpreting and ultimately performing a piece of music. And with the proper foundation, using MicroWorlds to create your own projects from scratch transforms you into a composer.
